Beach Life in Antalya (2026)

Antalya's beaches for expats — from Konyaaltı to Lara, sea temperatures month by month, beach club costs, the best neighborhoods for beach access, and honest seasonal realities.

One of Antalya's great selling points is that the beach is not a destination requiring travel — for thousands of expats living in Konyaaltı, the Mediterranean is a 5-minute walk away. The sea season runs 6 months (May–October), with excellent water temperatures and a promenade culture that makes beach life part of daily routine rather than a special occasion.

Antalya's Beaches — Overview

Konyaaltı Beach

Public & private sections

West Antalya, Konyaaltı district

Large pebbly/shingle beach backed by Beydağları mountains. 7km long with promenade, parks, restaurants.

Access: Free public sections; private beach club day passes

Expat usage: Daily — many expats live in nearby Konyaaltı specifically for this beach

Lara Beach

Private beach clubs, some public

East Antalya, Lara/Kundu area

Long sandy beach alongside Antalya's luxury hotel strip. More commercialized than Konyaaltı.

Access: Mostly private hotel/club access; some public stretches

Expat usage: Popular with families staying in east Antalya. Day trips from city centre.

Kaputaş Beach

Public

1 hour west of Antalya (near Kaş road)

Iconic cove beach — dramatic gorge, turquoise water, small but stunning. One of Turkey's most photographed beaches.

Access: Free; 187 steps down from the road. Can get crowded July–Aug.

Expat usage: Day trips, not daily swimming. Worth the drive.

Olympos / Çıralı

Public

1.5 hours west of Antalya

Remote, natural, backed by ancient ruins and the Chimaera eternal flames. Caretta caretta sea turtle nesting beach.

Access: Free, limited commercial development

Expat usage: Day trips or overnight stays. Not practical for daily swimming.

Boğazkent / Belek Beaches

Private beach clubs and resort access

40km east of Antalya

Long, pristine sandy beaches attached to Belek's golf resort area. Very clean, less crowded.

Access: Some beach clubs open to public for day pass fee

Expat usage: Occasional trips; mostly golf tourist territory

Best Neighborhoods to Live In for Beach Access

Konyaaltı (Sarısu / Hurma)

€350–600/month 1BR

Most popular with resident expats. Promenade running the length of the beach, cafes, supermarkets, and good transport. Walkable beach access from most apartments in this district.

Lara / Güzeloba

€450–750/month 1BR

Upscale area east of the city. Sandy beach access, newer apartment complexes, quieter residential feel. Good for families. Less central but premium beach quality.

Muratpaşa (City Centre)

€300–550/month 1BR

Old town area — no immediate beach access, but Konyaaltı is 4–5km away by bus or bicycle. Good for those who don't need daily beach access.

Honest Downsides of Antalya Beach Life

  • !July and August crowds are intense on Konyaaltı — parking is near-impossible and the promenade gets packed on weekends. Locals often use early mornings (before 9am) or evenings.
  • !Peak summer heat (38–40°C in August) can make beach visits uncomfortable between noon and 4pm. Antalya's summers are genuinely hot.
  • !Konyaaltı beach is shingle/pebble, not fine sand — water shoes are recommended for comfortable entry. Lara Beach is sandy but further from the city centre.
  • !Some private beach clubs are overcrowded in summer and the experience can feel regimented. Seek out lesser-known smaller clubs or public stretches.
  • !The sea breeze is less pronounced in Antalya than in the Aegean — expect sticky, calm summer evenings.
