Where to Go
Antalya has a mix of private and public hospitals. Expats overwhelmingly use the private system for its quality, English-speaking staff, and predictable pricing.
Konyaaltı district
The most expat-recommended private hospital in Antalya. Part of the national Memorial network. Strong cardiology, oncology, orthopaedics, and general surgery departments. Has a dedicated international patient services team with English, German, and Russian speakers. Modern facilities, generally short waiting times.
Central Antalya
Part of the large Medical Park chain. Well-equipped with modern diagnostic technology. Strong all-round private hospital with good specialist coverage. Popular with expats and medical tourists. English-speaking staff available across most departments.
Muratpaşa / central
One of the largest public hospitals in the region. Operated under the Turkish state SGK system. Very low cost once registered, but English is limited. Long waiting times are common. Best used for non-urgent referrals once you are in the SGK system. Quality of care is reasonable but the environment is busier than private hospitals.
Dumlupınar district
Antalya's university hospital. Teaching hospitals often have access to cutting-edge treatments and specialist departments. Better for complex or unusual cases than standard public hospitals. As with all public facilities, English is limited and waiting times are longer.
Honest Comparison
Both cities have strong private healthcare, but there are real differences worth understanding before you relocate.
Turkey's medical capital
Excellent for everyday expat healthcare needs
Bottom line: For most expat healthcare needs — GP visits, dentistry, dermatology, orthopaedics, minor surgery, annual check-ups, and routine emergencies — Antalya's private hospitals are excellent and significantly cheaper than EU equivalents. If you require highly complex oncology, neurosurgery, or rare specialist care, you may want to travel to Istanbul or coordinate with your home country. For the vast majority of expat residents, Antalya's healthcare is more than satisfactory.

Quality is genuinely high
Many Antalya dentists trained in Germany, Austria, or the UK. Equipment is modern. Standards are European-comparable in quality private clinics.
English is widely spoken
Most private dental clinics in expat areas have English-speaking staff. German is common too. You can explain your treatment needs clearly.
Dental tourism is big business
Antalya sees thousands of dental tourists from Germany, the UK, and Scandinavia each year. Clinics are experienced with international patients.
Check credentials carefully
Ask for the dentist's qualifications. Look for clinics registered with the Turkish Dental Association. Avoid price-only decision making.
Emergency Care
What to expect and how to access emergency care in Antalya as a foreign resident.
Ambulance (112)
Turkey's unified emergency number. Works for ambulance, fire, and police. English-speaking operators are available though response time varies.
Private hospital emergency (acil)
You can go directly to any private hospital's emergency department (acil servis) without a referral. You will be seen quickly. Payment or insurance details are taken after initial assessment.
State hospital emergency
State hospital emergency departments are free for those in the SGK system or for life-threatening emergencies regardless of status. Wait times are longer.
Medical air evacuation
Some international insurance policies cover medical air evacuation to your home country. Worth checking if you have complex pre-existing conditions.
